Extended Range Spearfishing:
The idea behind this is not to reach fish because the shallow fish are fished out, the point is to challenge yourself and even the odds so to speak. Make the hunt more a journey than a massacre.

I have hunted one individual fish for 6 weeks, repeatedly encountering him at 48m and refused to shoot him because the deal was that I would take him at 52m, as it turned out that fish outmaneuvered me to the point that I abandoned one of my basic deep diving protocols. That day I stopped viewing him as prey and he became my master. I saw that same fish many more times (even at 52m) and would never shoot him after that. I used to talk to him down there.

Indeed I have always remembered the fish which I have not shot with far more pleasure than the ones I landed. They invariably have taught me more. But hey, I do eat fish and I do like landing them too!

This is about spearfishing fish beyond 50m, a personal project that I have dedicated a lot of time to developing. I have spent most of that time working depth diving skill and bottom time, not a lot on spearfishing skills, now I have started to focus more on that aspect.
